Seasoned taco beef and cold toppings loaded straight into a single-serve chip bag — a full taco dinner with no plates, no bowls and nothing to wash. One skillet on the camp stove is all it takes.

Instructions

  1. Set a large skillet over medium-high heat on your camp stove or a grate above the fire. Add the ground beef and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon or spatula, until no pink remains.
  2. Stir in the taco seasoning and cook another 2 to 3 minutes so it coats every crumble and smells toasty. Drag the pan to a cooler spot on the grate to keep warm.
  3. While the beef cooks, squeeze each unopened chip bag gently to crush the chips a little and make room for toppings. Open the bag along the top, then roll the sides down an inch or two so it stands up like a bowl.
  4. Layer into each bag: a handful of shredded lettuce, a generous scoop of hot taco beef, then cheddar, salsa and a spoonful of sour cream.
  5. Hand them out with forks and eat straight from the bag while the beef is still steaming.
